PROCACI PROJECT

The project aims to design new strategies for integrated control of pathogens in order to discourage their development and penetration into the fruit already in the field, thus making treatment more effective and easier in the post-harvest phases.

For the reduction of fungal activity will be implemented activities that involve the use of microorganisms and inducers of resistance already contemplated in biological control, flanked by the characterization of soilthe climatic conditions of the company’s study areas and fundamental for the identification of treatment and monitoring points.

Post-harvest activities will be planned to transfer methodologies to counter the development of rot through disinfection systems using micro-organisms and/ or enzymes produced by them, Baths in polysaccharide mixtures and innovative systems for the preservation of the product collected in packaging.

Progetto Procaci

The company MGM s.r.l. is an integral part of the project activities, especially in the post-harvest, packaging and storage phase. Production and packaging lines will be made available to research activities, as well as cold storage for both chestnut and cherry sampling. Several hypotheses of post-harvest treatment and packaging with biomolecules will be developed to improve the shelf life of fresh products.

For the implementation of this research project, MGM srl will use the scientific advice of OASIS srl – R & D Centre (INNOVATIVE SME) of Torre le Nocelle (Av) and two institutes of the National Research Council: the Institute for Mediterranean Agricultural and Forestry Systems (ISAFoM) in Naples and the Institute of Food Science (ISA) in Avellino.
